A Plant Project
Good plants of containers are cactus. They are the kind of plants that are easily combined in one pot with variations creating a beautiful display of natural plant life. They are available in different shapes and colors that last a long time. They are pretty decorations for the different rooms in the home that accent the rooms the entire year.
They are easy to grow as well as to plant. To add to new plants from the current plant, cut the leaves allowing the ends of the leaves to dry about a week before planting the leaf into the soil. The leaf will root into the soil beginning a new plant. This makes adding the current cactus garden extremely easy.
To groom the shrub like cactus trim the leafs and cut the tips of the leaves. Allow the leaves to dry about two weeks in a warm shady area before planting them the same as the other leaves. They will grow roots producing a new plant. Avoid placing fresh leaves into the sand since they will not root unless they are partially dry.
Another method for expanding the cactus if propagation. This is when the cactus produced new starts from the current plant. Cutting the leaves is one form of propagation. The continual planting of the new sections of the cactus will increase the garden while adding more to the appearance of the garden. If you enjoy the flowering cactus, the plant will produce more flowers with the propagation techniques increasing the blooms in the mature status of the plant. Add the right mixture of fertilizer as directed on the plant enhancers. Graphing is another method for propagating cactus. This method involves planting one kind of cactus with a different variety of cactus. Cactus will grow on another variety of cactus as long as the each plant is healthy. Graphed cactus will grow faster. The best time to graph the cactus is in the late spring and early summer.
Flat graphing consists of cutting the cactus crosswise, trim the shoulder area of the plant, clean the surface, then place the detached other cactus to the new clean area. Secure the two pieces together gently with a rubber band until they have become secured to each other. Cover the grafted cactus with a paper bag so it produces roots for about five to seven days.
Cleft grafting is cutting the cactus and making a "cleft" in the middle of the cactus. Cut a cactus shoot from the other plant and insert the new piece into the clefted area. Secure the new piece with a rubber band to the new location. You will find enjoyment with the cactus gardens. They are easy to maintain and expand the number of plants.
