Improve Your Yard Lawn
You have fertilized the yard. You have added new grass seed. Yet you still think you are forgetting something to improve your yard. One of most overlooked items for the yard is the watering system.
Does your yard have in ground sprinklers or do you use the older method of the hose and lawn sprinklers? Either method works fine to get the yard watered. Yet for appearances sake, many people prefer the in ground sprinkler systems. They can be set with a timer to water the yard without the hassles of doing the work manually. They are also allow you more time for other areas of your life instead of dragging out the hose and putting it away when you are done. If you want to free up more of your time from this process, consider having the in ground system installed.
Watering the lawn is crucial to the growth of the grass. The grass needs the moisture to stay green instead of the unsightly brown. The richer the grass the better the yard appears. Adding the fertilizer twice a year also adds to the rich green appearance of the healthy yard.
Walk the yard to look for sparse grass areas and weeds. Dandelions are a sure sign for the need of weed killers. Kids love the little flowers but the homeowners know the pesky plants cause damage. Avoid pulling the plants since they are very resilient and will only return. Use the proper weed killer to remove the weeds from the yard. Also, take measures of stopping the kids from blowing the cute little seeds all over the yard. It might be hard since it is a childhood game many enjoy.
Add to the bedding of the plants and smaller gardens around the home. Use bright colored flowering plants. Use a combination of plants that will bloom throughout the spring and summer. Remove any dead foliage as it dies off to help maintain a nice appearance of the yard.
Plant ground cover around bushes and trees in shady areas to add to the charm of the trees and bushes. The ground cover will help keep moisture in the ground reducing the amount of water. They provide a nice touch to bare spots and areas. Do the smaller things to add to the dull boring yard by adding low maintenance ground cover.
Consider adding decorative stone or wood chips to other areas of the yard. Along the sidewalk to the front door will create a nice welcoming effect for the entrance to the home. Make the walkways light with solar lighting for the evening that also provides security to the home as well as helps to avoid possible accidents on the dim areas.
